The Adventures of the Thin Man radio shows were based on the Thin Man movie series, which were in turn based on the novel by Dashiell Hammett. Despite its long run on radio (1941-1950) few recordings of the series exist, and many of them are in sub-par sound. Many of the existing recordings are misdated or mistitled. The shows listed below have been researched and checked. Alternative titles are included in the file names. The Lux Radio Theatre versions and an episode of the movie promotion...

This classic TV program, "The Ruggles", aired on the ABC-TV Network from 1949 to 1952. A few episodes survive, and presented here is one of them, a "Christmas" episode. The show was aired live, but this print missing a few minutes of footage, however it's still watchable.

An episode of the US soap opera "Love of Life" from 22 December 1955. With original commercials. Unfortunately most episodes of this series are lost. This series aired in a 15-minute time-slot. You'd be surprised how much they got into those 15-minutes (really about 11 minutes minus ads)

An amazingly incomplete episode of the brilliantly campy soap opera "Valiant Lady". This show was performed live. Charming, exciting and watchable, this is a fun little daytime drama performance from 1953.

This episode aired from 12:45PM to 1:00PM, was broadcast live, and appears here with the original commercials. It was preceded by on the schedule by "Search for Tomorrow" and followed by "Journey Through Life". I may be alone on this, but I like this episode. It is entertaining. A upgraded picture quality version. This is a daytime soap opera. In this episode, a couple is discussing their son's wife, who is on trial for the murder of her first husband.  Meanwhile, a friend of hers give evidence at the trial. I might be mistaken on the date: my source for the episode, a DVD-R, gives the date as 4 March 1953, while the user-edited IMDb says it aired the following day. This episode aired live, though the opening and closing commercials were filmed (the middle commercial...

Re-uploaded with slightly improved picture quality. Low-budget daytime soap opera which aired in a 15-minute time-slot (12:15PM to 12:30PM). At about the 4:09 mark in the video we see that the walls are painted black. Why they are painted black, I don't know. This episode aired live, as was usually the case at the time, and kinescoped. Unfortunately, most of the kinescope recordings of this series are lost.

DR. KILDARE Dr. Kildare was produced for syndication in 1949 at WMGM , New York. It was based on the popular Dr. Kildare movies of the late 1930's and early 1940's, and brought to the microphone the stars of that series, Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore . Ayres played the young, idealistic Dr. James Kildare; Barrymore, ever in character, was the crusty, loveable diagnostician, Dr. Leonard Gillespie. The men worked at Blair General Hospital, "one of the great citadels of American medicine --...
